Restoring keyboard or mouse control
If your keyboard and mouse aren’t working in a VM, the most likely problem is that VMware Tools isn’t installed or needs to be updated.
- For Linux VMs, see Installing and upgrading VMware Tools on Linux VMs.
- For Windows VMs, see Installing and upgrading VMware Tools on Windows VMs.
If VMware Tools appears to be up to date but the keyboard and mouse still don’t work, you may have an unsupported version of VMware Tools installed on your VM. Uninstall VMware Tools from the VM, and then install the Skytap-supported version of VMware Tools using the above links.
- To uninstall VMware Tools from a Windows VM, see Installing and upgrading VMware Tools on Windows VMs for instructions about removing the existing VMware Tools.
- To uninstall VMware Tools from a Linux VM, see Uninstalling VMware Tools.
Power A CPU architecture that supports IBM i, AIX, and Linux (on Power) in Skytap. VMs don’t use the ESXi hypervisor, so don’t encounter this problem.
