Troubleshooting VM Access
Try this:
Work with your IT team to try these advanced troubleshooting steps:
- Check the disk wait time for the VM. For example, for Windows VMs, use Windows Performance Monitor: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749249.aspx.
- If the disk wait time is over .25 sec., your performance may be restricted by a disk I/O limit. Increase the VM RAM to 8 GB, which automatically increases the disk I/O allotment. If you still experience high disk wait times after increasing your RAM, contact support at support@skytap.com.
- Use a network monitoring tool (such as Wireshark) to review packet loss and packet fragmentation rates. If you experience high packet loss or fragmentation, this is likely an issue with the virtual adapter or drives on the VM. Try using a different network adapter type or updating VMware Tools.
