Course Manager by Skytap overview

Course Manager introduces a dedicated web interface, which you can use to:

  • Automatically provision, run, and delete lab environments in one or more regions, based on schedules you define.
  • Perform the bulk operations needed to create multiple lab environments from the same template and add student access links for each environment.
  • Reuse the same template, VM permissions, and custom content settings for multiple events and in multiple regions.
  • Provide instructors with a management view for each event that:

    • Displays all of the student lab environments from one window.
    • Grants instructors full access to the lab environments for their students.

Course Manager adds new resources to your Skytap account, including courses, events, student labs, and a event management view.

  • Courses are blueprints for future events. You define a course once and then reuse it to schedule multiple events that share similar settings (including the Skytap template to use for the student labs, the student permissions for each VM in the template, custom content shared in the lab, etc.).
  • Events are scheduled, customized instances of a course. Each event includes a start and end date, a lab environment for each student, and a event management view for the instructor. Course Manager automatically creates and manages the student lab environments based on the event schedule.
