Retrying a failed import

If an import job fails, note the error and try to resolve the problem, then follow these steps to retry the import.

To retry a failed import
  1. Either access your original import files or download the failed import files from the Kyndryl Cloud Uplift SFTP server (using the same SFTP credentials you used to upload the files, listed on the Kyndryl Cloud Uplift Imports page).
  2. Edit the VM files to resolve any errors. For example, if the file was an unsupported hypervisor type, covert it to a supported file type using VMware Converter (see Converting non-VMware-based VMs for import).
  3. If you’re retrying an import that failed (no VMs were imported):

    1. Upload the edited files to the Kyndryl Cloud Uplift SFTP server (using the same SFTP credentials you used to upload the files, listed on the Kyndryl Cloud Uplift Imports page).
    2. Click Create environment.

If you’re retrying an import that partially completed (some VMs were imported):

    1. Create a new Kyndryl Cloud Uplift import job.
    2. Follow the instructions in Importing VMs using the VM Imports page. Upload the edited VM files using the new SFTP credentials that Kyndryl Cloud Uplift provides. Don’t use the SFTP credentials from the partially completed import job.

The new VMs are imported into a separate Kyndryl Cloud Uplift environment. To combine the VMs with other environments, use the Add VMs button on the environment details page.
